1.
Are participants in your full-length interview videos real MBA students and alumni?
Yes. All of our full-length interview participants are admitted and enrolled students from top US business schools. All of these students were successful in their interviews, are well informed about school specific information and demonstrate cultural aspects of their relevant schools through their interviews. Many of our participants have had significant work experience prior to starting their MBAs and have undergone rigorous interview preparation during their business school programs, both of which add to their interview skills.
2.
Do I need to copy the conversational style and content of the answers demonstrated in the interviews in order to be successful in my interview?
No. Interviews are meant to give an impression about your personality and communication style and there is no exact science for them. Our interviews demonstrate how admitted students to top MBA programs answer interview questions in a structured and succinct way, communicating the information that interviewers are looking for. You should learn from these answers, but adjust your own answers to fit your personality and communication style. Business schools are looking to admit diverse groups of students with interesting and distinct personalities, who show a fit with the unique characteristics of the school. This requires that applicants deliver their goals and experiences in a clear, structured way.
3.
Will my interview look the same as the ones in your videos?
Not necessarily. Interviews will vary depending on the interviewers and their interviewing styles and the type of interview being conducted. For example, alumni interviews tend to be less formal than those conducted by admission officers. All interviewers, however, will look for students who fit that school's culture and who have excellent communication skills, which are qualities that are highlighted by the students in our interviews. Your approach to the interview should be flexible and you should be prepared to adjust yourself to the interviewer's style.

Our videos are primarily educational and their goal is to guide you on how top business school students answer interviewer questions effectively. While all our interviews are based on in-depth research of school-specific formats, as well as the first-hand interview experience of actual students participating in the videos, they don't necessarily represent the entire range of interviewing styles you may encounter.
4.
Why should I watch these videos if I can read books or practice with friends instead?
Although reading books and practicing with friends to prepare for the MBA interview process may be helpful, ZoomInterviews provides you with an insider's view to the interview room. Through watching our videos you will see how each school has a unique culture and how establishing fit with an institution is captured in the interview. Our school interview examples are researched in-depth and simulate what could happen in your interview. This gives you the opportunity to learn from top MBA students with significant interviewing experience. These videos will accelerate your preparation and help you build a strong knowledge base and understanding of the interview process.
5.
Do I need to prepare for my interview if I have never had problems explaining myself?
Yes, it is still important to prepare. The admissions process for top business schools is highly competitive and candidates who are more prepared will do better in real interviews. Watching ZoomInterviews' videos and the real-time best practice interview comments that appear with each video will allow you to understand the communication styles that work and learn what admissions officers are looking for. In addition, you'll be able to get a better understanding of how interviews vary across schools. Seeing a wider array of interview styles and questions will help you better anticipate what you could possibly encounter in your own interview(s).
6.
Should I buy a subscription or separate videos instead?
If you are applying to more than two schools, it is recommended you purchase a subscription, which will allow you to gain access to a wide range of different types of interview questions. You will be able to implement this information not only in the interviews, but in other parts of your application as well. Each video contains different questions, feedback and expert commentary by professional interview coaches, all of which include important and valuable tools to help you succeed in your interview.
7.
How will I know what went well and what did not in the interviews I watch?
You will find several useful tools to help you evaluate the interviews. Each interview will be accompanied by comprehensive guidance for each question, as well as a short overall evaluation of the interview. In addition to this, best practice interview tips will pop up while watching the interviews, allowing you to learn in real-time what are effective interview techniques and why.
8.
How can I be sure that your interviews are high quality?
All of our interviews were performed by admitted and enrolled students from top business schools and were supervised by consultants with admissions experience in top business schools and professional interview coaches. ZoomInterviews' combination of extensive interview research, careful selection of schools, filming protocol, preparation of the students, and professional interview coaching recreate as closely as possible what could be encountered in the actual admissions interview.
9.
Can I use your materials to prepare for job interviews?
While the content of the interviews is different, it could definitely be useful to use our videos to learn how to communicate in a structured and succinct way, as well as how to effectively answer behavioral questions. Specific job-related preparation materials will be coming to ZoomInterviews in the near future.
10.
I am an international student. Will I be expected to communicate on the same level as presented in your videos?
Admissions officers will understand that you may have language difficulties, but will still expect structured answers from you. As the American interviewing style is very different from those in other countries, the cultural aspects of our videos may be especially useful to international students to help you to feel comfortable and more confident in the interview. When interviewing with an American admissions officer, second-year student or alum, in particular, learning how to talk "off the script" and not sound overly rehearsed is especially valuable.
11.
Are your videos applicable to executive MBA programs?
ZoomInterviews' videos are designed for professionals at all levels, and this includes candidates who are preparing for interviews at the executive MBA level. There are fundamentals and best practices included in the instruction for each video, and our coaches who have crafted these answer have done work with executive MBA candidates previously. Of course, the examples don't all make reference to executive level positions, but the key points and take aways in those examples can and should be applied when formulating answers for more senior-level roles.
